It was felt that the smoke was not drawing enough attention and therefore not fully communicating the idea of a forest fire. The colors were tweaked accordingly.
This was the first pass at an Illustration that was supposed be featured in the header of a feature on the AIR website for an update to the wildfire model.
Upon review it we noticed the previous version was not scaling effectively when placed on the website. Additionally there was concern that previous versions were too cartoonish. In an effort to address both concerns I came up with this toile de Jouy inspired version.
It scaled well and brought things back down to earth. However…
…due to mitigating circumstances that had nothing to do with the design department, the web feature was cancelled and this Illustration was never used as intended.
Pieces of it where however used for blog Illustrations and other projects.
